Bio

Phil Miller is owner of Sunbelt Golden Horseshoe business brokerage. Phil has direct experience in business startups and has successfully launched, grown and sold or transitioned out of active management of multiple businesses across technology, consulting, commercial printing and e-commerce. With demonstrated expertise in identifying key business drivers, Phil thrives on working with transitioning business owners through preparation and sale of their business. Passionate about entrepreneurship and recognizing business ownership as one of the most challenging yet rewarding life endeavours, Phil’s excitement in helping business buyers through an acquisition is contagious.

Phil is actively involved with a startup business owners mentorship group and enjoys the opportunity to guide young entrepreneurs through early decisions in launching and establishing their businesses.

Prior to moving into business ownership Phil managed a national team of partner account managers for one of the largest global multi-national software technology companies.

Bio

Jack Elias, CBI, P.Eng., joined the Sunbelt Business Brokers network because it was the best organization he could find to help him do what he wanted to do, which was to help owners of businesses realize the benefits of their lifetime of hard work through the sale of those businesses, and help budding entrepreneurs purchase those businesses, and so start down their own path towards financial success. And, the Sunbelt organization fit exactly with Jack’s attitude that any deal that gets done has to be right for both parties!

Jack’s successful career included an early period of blue collar work that instilled in him the hard-working values he carries to this day. He spent some time in sales, and some in middle and senior management, and then he spent 15 years as the President of one of the largest elevator companies in Canada. During that period, he acted on behalf of his company in a number of successful acquisitions, and negotiated many more. That started the love of the process, and developed the belief that the fit between the seller and the buyer has to be right, and the terms of the deal have to work for them both.

Originally from western Canada, Jack has called Toronto home for 30 years. He received an engineering degree from the University of Manitoba, and has attended numerous Leadership, Sales, Marketing, and Management courses with the International Management Development University in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He has also taken the Canadian Securities Course, the Ontario Real Estate Association courses, business valuation courses from the Canadian Institute for Chartered Business Valuators, and many business brokerage courses from the International Business Brokers Association.

Current accreditations include Broker status with the Real Estate Council of Ontario, and Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) status from the International Business Brokers Association.

Active memberships include Professional Engineers of Ontario, the International Business Brokers Association, and the Real Estate Council of Ontario.

Nathaniel Stainton

Bio

Nathaniel Stainton became a Junior Analyst for Sunbelt Golden Horseshoe in November 2023, after receiving his Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) Ted Rogers School of Management. He majored in Business Management with a specialization in Global Management Studies. Nathaniel has also received his Google Data Analytics Certificate, providing him with a background in advanced Microsoft Excel computations, business analysis and data-driven decision-making. He has also worked in sales at Sherwin Williams. Nathaniel was born in Markham, Ontario, and lives there today.

Nathaniel now works in a support role within Sunbelt Golden Horseshoe, helping business brokers determine the value of a client’s business and create detailed reports on the business’s identity and characteristics. He joined Sunbelt Golden Horseshoe with the desire to support business brokers in ensuring that sellers receive great value out of their business and buyers can make informed decisions when purchasing a business.
